No 1 TO NOTICE OF RACE
4. Conditions of Entry
It is the skipper's responsibility to ensure that the following
criteria are met. At least 30% of the crew, which must include
the skipper, must have completed training to Section 6 of the
ISAF Offshore Special Regulations. In the 2-Handed Class, both
crewmembers must have received training. Appendix G to the regulations
provides a model training course. COPIES OF THESE CERTIFICATES/LETTERS
OF ATTENDANCE MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION ON THE YACHT.
5. Programme
A briefing will take place at 18:30 hours on Friday 18th July
at the Island Sailing Club, High Street, West Cowes, Isle of Wight.
Boats must be available for a Safety Inspection at the Cowes
Yacht Haven, Cowes, Isle of Wight (tel:01983 299975) on Friday
18th July between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00. Please phone the
Secretary (tel: 01983 291192 or 07802 729212) if you intend to
arrive on Thursday 17th July.
8. Sailing Instructions
Paid up entries will receive the Sailing Instructions either
through the post or via
e-mail two weeks prior to the start of the race.

1. Organising Authority
The Junior Offshore Group (JOG)
2. Rules
Racing will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 - 2008, JOG General Conditions, JOG Prescriptions, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.
3. Conditions of Entry (see provisional entry list below)
The Race is open to Monohull boats with a current IRC Handicap
All crew must be minimum of 18 years of age on the 18th July 2008
At least 50% of the crew, including the Skipper, must have completed, in the 12 months preceding the start:
a) 200* miles of JOG ISAF/ORC Category 3 offshore racing**, or
b) suitable equivalent offshore races, or
c) a non-stop passage of at least 200 miles along the rhumb line with no more than two turning points.
Qualifications in (b) and (c) above are to be proposed to and agreed by JOG by Friday 20th June 2008
* Distance is measured on the rhumb line.
** To qualify as "offshore racing" a race must be of at least 70 miles duration and include at least one night at sea.
The qualifying races must be carried out on the boat entered, which shall not be significantly modified between qualifying and the start of the race.
Boats must have a minimum SSS 30 or STIX equivalent.

COPIES OF THESE CERTIFICATES/LETTERS OF ATTENDANCE MUST BE LODGED WITH THE JOG NO LATER THAN Monday 30th June 2008.
Upon registration, boats must supply a copy of their current rating certificate and satisfy the Race Committee that they conform to ISAF/ORC category 2 safety regulations. A log will be required to prove a qualifying cruise or proof (i.e. copy of race results) of participation in suitable races.
4. Programme
Registration will take place between 18:30 hours and 21:00 hours on Friday 18th July at the Island Sailing Club, High Street, West Cowes, Isle of Wight.
Boats must be available for a Safety Inspection in Cowes on Thursday 17th July 2008 or Friday 18th July between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00. Where possible an inspection time will be scheduled in advance.
5. Advertising
The race will be under ISAF Regulation 20 Advertising Code Category A, 'No additional advertising' and IRC Rules, Part 4 IRC A, 'No additional advertising'.
Advertising on Boats is not permitted and the name of a Yacht shall not promote a commercial enterprise.
6. Entry
An Entry Form is attached to
this Notice of Race or is obtainable from JOG. Entries are limited
in number and will be received on a first come first served basis.
7. Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available upon registration. Paid up entries will receive the Sailing Instructions either through the post or via email two weeks prior to the start of the race.
8. Alterations to the Racing Rules
RRS 52 shall be amended in as much as autopilots/self steering systems are permitted.
9. Course
The course will be from the JOG start line at Cowes, to La Trinite. Distance approximately 400 Nautical Miles
10. Prizes
The Illingworth Offshore Challenge Cup will be presented to the first boat in each Class. Additional prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd will be presented along with Mementoes for all crew competing on boats that complete the course.
